Parole Board case files are for inmates of statewide correctional institutions. Cover of each jacket has inmates's name, aliases, register and case numbers, race, age, birthplace and date, citizenship status, hair and eye color, nationality, religious affiliation, educational background, marital status and number of children, occupation, substance use habits, information on parents and age on leaving home.

Prior to creation of State Board of Pardons in 1897, all parole actions were handled by Commissioners of the Penitentiary, while applications for executive clemency went directly to Governor's Office. New Board assumed administration of state's parole acts, first of which was passed in 1905.
